Polishing Hardwood Floors

No other type of flooring can give a house of an elegant look that hardwood floors. Over time, however, hardwood floors gradually lose their lustre. If your hardwood floor has seen better days, and you are considering taking the entire flooring and replaced by a new, pause for a while.

Hardwood floors can be revived, they are not like other objects in the house, which should be completely discarded and replaced if one or a few pieces stop working or are damaged. Most of the time, polishing wood floors is the best way to reduce their brightness. Polishing is often enough to make these floors resembles how they were the first day they were installed.

* Cleaning

The water and other solvents based on water can damage hardwood floors. For instance, never use them to clean your hardwood floor. There are hardwoods that are not cleansers based on water you can use to remove stains. From dust and other particles, use a broom or vacuum cleaner (or a combination of both). For areas in your hardwood floor that are very dirty, use a stiff nylon brush.

* Grinding

Grinding hardwood floors is a wonderful way to finish your floor partially. This step in the process of polishing hardwood floors in fact your prepares a new floor to finish every time. Grinding prevents the Polish or complete your request peeling off quickly. For this step, you will need to rent a machine called a buffer. Be sure to use a screen of at least 100 grit.

* Polishing

Once you have your buffed hardwood floor, you have to finish it by the application of wax or polish solution. Go with paste wax as it lasts longer and can give your hardwood floor that extra shine. However, keep in mind that the paste wax is a little more difficult to remove than other types of finishing or Polish. If you plan your finishing hardwood on down the road, go with a polishing solution as it is easier to remove than wax.

It can be laborious and time-consuming, but you may get better results if you apply the wax or polish solution manually. Make sure the soil is clean and dry before applying Polish. The frequency with which you need to polish or wax your hardwood floor depends largely on the type of hardwood, how old your floor and how much foot traffic it receives each day.

In general, Polish implement hardwood at least once a year. Hardwood floors in the home would be well advised to be polite, every two years, while wood floors in an office environment would do well to be polite, every 6 months.
